The £25 residency worth crossing London for, while it lasts

Jazu is a hi-fi bar on Deptford High Street: horn speakers, a wall of vinyl, trestle benches out on the pavement. For three weeks its kitchen has been handed over to a Mallorcan residency cooking the Spanish Mediterranean coast, and on Wednesdays the whole thing comes as a set. Two courses and a drink, £25.

The Wednesdays to aim for are 5 and 12 August. The residency finishes on Saturday 15 August and the set goes with it, because Jazu does not run one the rest of the year. Bookings are open and advised, though walk-ins are welcome.

Jazu Bar, Deptford

Two courses and a drink for £25, Wednesdays only, until 15 August.

The dish to order is the Octodog: a grilled octopus tentacle in a brioche bun with mojo rojo, buried under a pile of shoestring fries. Around it the menu runs to a Croqueta del Día that rotates from the classic to the adventurous, cuttlefish black rice cooked in squid ink and finished with a blob of aioli, and Fideuá y Gambas, angel hair pasta baked in fish stock under prawns from the charcoal grill. The full menu runs Tuesday to Saturday; the £25 set is the Wednesday version of it.
