How is the London Set Menu Index calculated?
Every price is read from the restaurant’s own published set menu, never from a listing site, and the catalogue is re-checked against those menus on a rolling basis. Each restaurant brand counts once, so a group with twelve sites on one menu does not set the median on its own. Menus sold to a party of a stated minimum size are left out of the everyday figures, and Christmas menus are counted in the Christmas section alone. Two-course and three-course prices are the menu’s own; medians are shown to the nearest 50p. The index is published each season, and the next edition will show how prices have moved since this one.
