About Roka Aldwych

The robata grill runs down the middle of the restaurant, and the Teishoku menus are built around it. Five plates arrive to share, among them beef and sesame gyoza and tiger prawn tempura with tentsuyu and spicy yuzu, before one dish per person comes off the coals: seabream with ryotei miso, baby chicken with lemon, miso and garlic soy, or baby back pork ribs with sansho and cashew nuts.

The Premium Teishoku turns on crab, black cod and prawn dumplings with chilli dressing and tuna tartare on a nori rice cracker, then black cod in yuzu miso, beef fillet with chilli, ginger and spring onion, or lamb cutlets with Korean spices. Counter seats put you level with the grill, and the lounge sits back from it. Roka Aldwych is a few minutes from Covent Garden and the theatres along the Strand. Neither menu is served on bank holidays, and a vegetarian version of both is prepared on request.
